Adelaide Oval South Australia

First established in 1873, Adelaide's historic cricket ground is one of the world's most famous cricket pitches and one of the most picturesque. Centrally located on War Memorial Drive, North Adelaide it is in easy reach of Adelaide's hotels and centrally located accommodation. The ground lies to the north of the River Torrens, with a new sweeping footbridge (under construction December 2013) to link to the Festival Theatre, Casino, hotels and the main CBD. The Oval is less than a twenty minute drive from the Adelaide International Airport.

2011 witnessed the commencement of a multi-million upgrade of the Adelaide Oval and surrounds. This is nearing completion, with the first International Test Match between Australia and England to commence on 5th December 2013. In addition to the stunning architectural design of two new stands to the south and east, the turf itself has been completely redone. Earlier in the year, the local public were able to purchase sections of the old turf - a unique opportunity for backyard cricket enthusiasts to include a patch of the 'hallowed turf' in their back lawns!

The Adelaide Oval has an expanded capacity of 50,000 spectators, with three main grandstands on the east, south and west sides. To the north (the famous 'Cathedral end') there is new seating for 3000 as well as the grassy mound. The historic scoreboard is a main feature of the northern end. The Oval's facilities including restaurants and bars have been greatly modernised and expanded to make the Oval an exciting and dynamic venue for meetings and conferences. Tours of the Oval are now reinstated and will be available for booking at certain times of the year. Call +618 8211 1100 for more information and booking.

On Level 1 of the Southern Stand is found the recently opened Bradman Collection, with photographs, memorabilia, audio and video history of the world's greatest cricketer, Australia's own Don Bradman. This is a not-to-be-missed attraction of the Oval.

In addition to cricket, both state and international, the new Adelaide Oval will be the home for Aussie Rules football, meetings, conferences and entertainment spectacles. The organisation responsible for the management of the redeveloped Adelaide Oval precinct is The Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority Limited.

On March 22nd 2014, there will be an official opening extravanganza featuring rock legends, the Rolling Stones.
