Adelaide Oval South AustraliaEstablished in 1873 and managed by the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) Adelaide's historic cricket ground is one of the world's most famous cricket pitches and is one of the world's most picturesque. Centrally located on War Memorial Drive, North Adelaide it is in easy reach of Adelaide's hotels and centrally located accommodation. The Oval is less than a twenty minute drive from the new Adelaide International Airport.Although the Adelaide Oval is home to the "Red Backs" cricket team, Australian Football and Rugby Union are also played at the oval. The Adelaide Oval holds about 34,000 spectators with the 3 main grandstands, the Bradman Stand, named after Adelaide's famous All Rounder, the Western Wing and also the Chappell Stands. The Oval's has a conference facilities ( the Pavilion ) can be divided into smaller rooms for conferences of functions of all types. The Adelaide Oval is a popular tourist attraction with tours Monday to Friday, on non-match days only, starting at 10am. |
